Sindi Dlathu drops two tracks for summer 2011

Sindi’s music is bold and daring, she can sing, she is raring to go and she wants your ear.

Sindi Dlathu (yes she of Muvhango fame) is about to charm her way into the music scene with a two track EP revealing her musical and singing abilities.

The EP is a taste of things to come later in the year. For now it’s funky melodies, electric beats laced with maskandi chords and an infectious groove – all blended to get you dancing.

The first song on the EP is Mbimbi, a spirit rousing afro funk track with a pleasantly intoxicating beat that’s sure to fire up dance floors across the land. “I had a lot if fun doing this song,” explains singer and songwriter, Sindi Dlathu.

“Mbimbi is about the triumph of good over evil and I couldn’t help but get elated by this notion. I hope you’ll feel it in the song.”

The second track is called Uyathakatha. It has a noticeable maskandi isginqi and a funk bass line that comes forth to give the song a catchy yet powerful feel that will strike a chord with music lovers. It celebrates the spirit of excellence and everyone who excels at whatever they are doing.

“Like so many people out there I also want to do my best at whatever I do and with this song I sing about doing something so well the success can only be derived from a divine source,” continues Dlathu.

Hopefully Sindi Dlathu’s songs will impress on the airwaves, ipods, on dance floors, and the party scene as mush as or more than her success on the television screen.

Although Sindi is best known for her television roles as Thandaza (and being the leading lady) in the soapie Muvhango and as Nomfundo in the drama series Soul City (2001 – 2008), she started her performance career in musicals.

She got her first break in the hit stage musical, Sarafina and she has done backing vocals for the likes of Billy Ocean and Randy Crawford.

For her hard work, recognition has come from fans and peers; she won an FNB Vita Award - Best Actress for her role in the play, The Suit and was voted 2nd Best Actress by a Sowetan survey.

Sindi expects to do the same in the music industry, give her your ear…and hopefully she can take your heart two. If the songs are not playing on your favourite radio station, you can hear Sindi’s music on and keep up with her on Facebook. Also follow Sindi on twitter@sindidlath

The complete album will be released in the spring of 2011.
